Nobska Lighthouse is one of the most famous landmarks on Cape Cod. Located on the scenic road between Falmouth Village and Woods Hole, the lighthouse is visited by thousands of people every year. Nobska has seen many changes over the years, in the 1800's the structure was painted black. Until recently it was white and now in it's newest incarnation, cedar shingles. Our local lighthouse is not just decorative. It leads our many commercial fishermen, ferries and cruise ships through Nantucket Sound and into the Cape Cod Canal. The soft evening light reflected off of the sound casts a lovely glow on our local sentinel, the inspiration for this painting.
